Mt. Hood National Forest Open House Meeting Today

Calling all AANR-Northwest members and friends of the American Association for Nude Recreation: Interested members of the public are invited to an open house to be held at Mt. Hood National Forest Headquarters, 16400 Champion Way in Sandy on January 18, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.  The purpose of the open house is to discuss a proposal to add 28 developed recreation sites including campgrounds, day-use areas, and Bagby Hot Springs to a concession special use permit. For over 15 years, the Forest Service has managed many of Mt. Hood National Forest’s recreation sites in a cost-effective and efficient manner through the use of concession permits. An Environmental Assessment is currently being prepared to include recreation sites not previously included in a concession special use permit.  The Environmental Assessment will be completed prior to including new sites in a long-term permit. Recreation sites that have previously been included in a concession special use permit are being considered under a separate environmental process called a Categorical Exclusion.

The NAC posted this notice the 13th of January, why did the AANR not post this until the day of the actual event? In addition, I notice it was twittered approximately 6 hours ago…after the meeting started. AANR really needs to step up a notch and keep in the loop with the NAC if they are interested in helping the availability of nude recreation on public lands.

What’s more, if “SanOSleuth” was really concerned about getting the word out about this meeting, why did he/she not send a message about it earlier, instead of posting a message a day after the meeting? Is his main concern about the Bagby meeting, or is his concern about trying to slam AANR? The larger issue is to save nude soaking at Bagby, not to selfishly use this issue to slam one organization over another.
