New AANR President Thinks Pink

This October, thousands of organizations and individuals are showing their dedication to raising breast cancer awareness during National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Also this month, October 20 has been designated Love Your Body Day by the NOW Organization to promote body acceptance and self-esteem in all women. The American Association for Nude Recreation (AANR) is in a unique position to help spread the word about this important work through the association’s newly elected president Susan Weaver, a former government executive and breast cancer survivor.

Body acceptance is a hallmark of the nudist lifestyle. AANR President Weaver has spoken openly and often about her experience with breast cancer. For this reason she has met many women who are also breast cancer survivors who visit nudist resorts to celebrate their health. “It’s not our scars, it’s not our bodies, it’s ourselves,” President Weaver says. Her thoughts on body acceptance can be seen in her latest Poolside Chat and on AANR’s Nude Recreation channel on YouTube.

A lesser known fact about nudist resorts is that they are highly philanthropic. Throughout the year they organize many fundraising events for their members and the community at large. One such event is Nude-A-Palooza to be held October 23 at Cypress Cove Nudist Resort & Spa in conjunction with Rock Pink, an Orlando-based charitable organization whose mission is to bring music and humanity together to raise breast health awareness and support local breast cancer programs.

AANR President Susan Weaver will attend and show her support for the Rock Pink event in Kissimmee, location of American Association for Nude Recreation headquarters, while making her first visit to the AANR office as president.
