NUDIST ASSOCIATION APPLAUDS REVISION TO MAMMOGRAM GUIDELINES Lowering the age from 50 to 40 will save lives

(Kissimmee, Florida - May 12, 2023)

KISSIMMEE, Fla. (May 2023) — “Kudos to the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force for recommending women of all racial and ethnic backgrounds at average risk for breast cancer receive mammograms at age 40 (rather than waiting until age 50),” heralds the American Association for Nude Recreation (AANR.com).

For over 90 years the association has advocated for body acceptance, including for those who have undergone transformational surgeries such as mastectomies and limb amputations. Throughout the decades AANR and its member clubs/resorts/campgrounds have also supported breast cancer research through fundraisers, celebrated Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and organized support events for valued members who have succumbed to breast cancer.

Notes AANR PR Chair Ronna Krozy, EdD, RN, “Nudism has been shown to offer many social, psychological and physical health benefits including improved self and body image.  But none of this is an adjunct to the benefits of professional medical screening, evaluation, and treatment. As with the U.S.P.S.T.F, we encourage women to regularly schedule mammograms to increase the odds of early detection and optimal breast health. With regard to Breast Self-Examination, we encourage this practice to develop breast self-awareness so that any difference in appearance or sensation can be reported to one’s health professional.”
