Clothing optional vacations are becoming increasingly more popular every year. Nearly one out of every two people surveyed by TripAdvisor last year said they were willing to go au naturel on a nude cruise or at a nudist resort or nude beach.
The TripAdvisor survey also included the top 10 nude beaches recommended by members, including popular nudist spots like Black’s Beach in San Diego and Haulover Beach in Miami, plus eight more in and outside of North America.
We want to know: Where in North America would you like to see a nude beach? Tell us your 3 favorite cities or vacation areas.
I would love to have a nude beach somewhere close to Indianapolis, either on Lake Michigan or another large lake within the state. The nude beach should be part of a nude resort similar to Club Orient. I don’t like camping and don’t own a camper or recreational vehicle. The existing nude beaches in Indiana are very unappealing to me.
Newport Beach (Crystal Cove State Beach), Laguna Beach, Huntington Beach, I would like to see nude beaches at all three cities, this would greatly improve Orange County in my opinions.

Im with ya there Debbie! We live in Norfolk, VA. This area has hundreds of miles of textile beaches and not one foot of nude beach. How is that fair? More importantly, how to change it? I would also second bringing back the beach north of Assateague Island State Park in MD. I’ll bet that the people who made law enforcment assert themselves at Assateague again, never even go there. Oh my gosh. Have you been in Lake Superior even during the warmest months of the year? Nice clean water, but not suitable for above your knees.
Agreed, Minnesota does need one somewhere. The state has a great deal of shoreline but no official beach.
I would like to see some effort put into reclaiming San Onofre State Beach that area should never have been let go.
I also feel there is enough support to get a nude beach near Seattle WA there is a group that has been trying to do this for some time. Magnuson Beach is the one they were looking at. They even put it up on the new mayors blog and it came in third out of all the suggestions. So I feel there is enough public support if we push a little.

I agree! Why is it that it’s o.k. for everyone to walk around nude in Key West for a week during Fantasy Fest, but they have no legal nude beach?

Northeast Florida needs a clothing optional beach. The nearest clothing optional beach to N. E. Florida is at Canaveral National Seashore.
I would like to see a nude beach in St. Augustine, Florida. It’s my favorite city.
I would like to see nude beach in southern MN. near Mankato, MN. We have some lakes that are close to my area.
And those lakes are nice — in the summer but in the winter they’ve got the kind of “hard water” that even Culligan can’t cure.

I agree. A C-O beach along Lake Erie would be a great idea. What would you think about drawing crowds from Detroit, Toledo, and Cleveland?
Yes! The Bass Islands in Lake Erie would be nice. You can only reach them by boat, so this may help to avoid some of the “gawkers”.

Fort Desoto Park in south St Petersburg would be a great spot for a nude beach. With 1,200 miles of coast, it’s a shame that Florida only has two nude beaches where you won’t be hassled or threatened with arrest. What would be ideal would a resort in Florida with a real beach.

I agree with the Pasco County Florida area. I had heard talk of Fort Desoto park getting an area but it looks like that won’t be happening!
I would like to see a few clothed beaches for thoes who want. I fail to see why I need special beaches to be the way I was born! Why is it that I’m “werd” for being nude; (the way I was born) and persons who choose to hide behind close are treated as “normal”? Every beach should be a nude beach unless otherwise designated.
I would like there to be a nude beach on the west coast of florida. Somewhere near pasco county. There might be a lot of resorts , but i think a beach would attract a younger crowd, since it wouldn’t be so exspensive and wouldn’t require a membership.
Along the Gulf Coast of Texas, perhaps a section of Padre Island.
In Northwest Florida near Panama City Beach (Camp Helen State Park) or from Navarre to Pensacola Beach (lots of open space with a history of skinny dippin).
I agree that northwest Florida would be a great nudist beach destination…alot closer to get to than Haulover beach for folks like us in Tennessee.
I would say that Fort Tiden beach in Queens,New York would be ideal.It’s way far from any housing or mass transit and it would be similar to other clothing optional beaches further east on Long Island.It’s also on “FEDERAL LAND”.

I would like to see one officially designated in the Fort Bragg\Mendocino area. I don’t believe this society which is very open-minded and loaded with barely used beautiful beaches does not have an official nude beach.
Simple. Where is there a beach? The nude and tex beaches at Sandy Hook,in n.NJ. (Gunnison is the nude one) have peacefully co-existed for many years. Why doesn’t EVERY beach of reasonable size have a nude section?
KEY WEST, FL- Like I said earlier…Why is it o.k. during Fantasy Fest to walk around nude for a week, but they have no legal clothing optional beaches? Look what Fantasy Fest has done for the tourism increase in October!
LAKE ERIE SHORELINE, OHIO-(Between Toledo and Cleveland)-Many small islands that you can only get to by boat, so this may help to avoid “some” of the gawkers like we have had at Haulover Beach.

We need more nude beaches on rivers! Any river with clean water that is not too close to an urban area should be considered. With Google Earth it’s easy for anyone to choose sites to visit and see if they’d work.
I’d also like to see nude beaches on the Oregon coast, and the Wisconsin shore of Lake Michigan.
I think we should establish beaches not in vacation spots, but close to our own communities.
There is not one, not even one official nude beach in Washington State. One near Seattle would be great to have.
I love to see a beach in New Orleans as open as this city is there should be one.
Lake Hartwell on the SC/GA line. It is a beautiful lake with probably hundreds of coves that would be a perfect beach/wilderness area with great weather 8 months of the year.
