Friends, Family and Nudism
The Naked Sheep of the Family
Since I was 19 I have been comfortable being naked in front of other people. It just never bothered me. When I was 21 and 8 months pregnant I went to my first nude beach. When I was 24 I went to a Bike Rally with my tattooist and went topless.
That was the first time I told my parents, because there were pictures taken and I knew they would be on the Rally's website. Not that I thought my parents would be on that website, but I didn't want to risk them hearing from a friend or something. My mother simply said, "I don't know where you get it from."
During a summer rainstorm and a rowdy BBQ outing, I went streaking through a local park. My mom said, "That girl has no shame," and laughed. My older sister, who blushes at the discussion of nudity, just calls me "Freaky Deakie" and covers her eyes.
My 22 yr. old son thinks I'm the coolest, but never wants to see it for fear of "burning his retinas out."
Since I've gotten older, and lost the figure I once had, I haven't been nude outside my home in quite awhile, but that's all about to change. My husband and I are planning a naked weekend at a local resort - my first "formal" socially nude experience...I'll let you know how it goes.
My family accepts me and loves me, but it is clear that they don't understand my "total lack of modesty." I am fortunate to have a husband who is willing to take the leap into social nudity with me! And I am thankful for my family, even though they don't really get me sometimes.
As for friends, I don't broadcast my views on nakedness, but if it comes up; I don't shy away either. I have never had any problems with my friends, though I also don't try to turn them into converts, either.
I guess the only people I actively keep it from at this point, are professional connections as it could, fair or not, lead to impractical complications in my life. Other than that, I am openly a Naturist/Nudist!
Berkshire County, Massachusetts
I have enjoyed being nude for years, but in regards to my family, had always kept my "hobby" to myself. As an adolescent, time at home alone was nearly always spent nude, at least some segment of it. But I never told anyone, especially my parents or sister.
Years later, once I was married, with kids, pursing my career, I always felt a desire to share my naturist proclivities with my sister. I can't explain just exactly why....just because she's my sister and being nude was important to me, so, I wanted to share it.
However, I struggled with just how to bring it up. I didn't just want to blurt it out. So, I wandered around the subject frequently, seeing if she would bite and maybe the discussion would just flow into a conversation where I could talk about it freely. But apparently I was too subtle, because the topic of naturism never really came up.
But one day while we were IM'ing eacother back and forth, I decided to try again. So, I said, "we (my wife and I) were talking about it and we voted you to be the person we know who is most likely to go to a nude beach." She replied back, "You are probably right since I have already been to one." I was totally floored! Here I was trying to let her in on the big secret and she beat me to it!
A series of message exchanges followed to tell me about the story of her one and only trip to Blacks Beach years prior, on a whim more or less. But the door was open and I took full advantage of it. "Would it freak you out if I told you that I was a closet nudist?" I typed it and stared at it for what seemed like forever before hitting the "enter" key. Once I did...,it was one if the most freeing and liberating experiences of my life. We talked about it for hours and I told her dozens of stories -- skinny dipping, nude hiking, nude walks though the woods, the time she almost accidentally "caught" me when I was a kid, etc....It was a wonderful moment.
My sister isn't a naturist or a nudist but she is an outstanding sister and a great listener. She likes hearing about our adventures and even seeing the odd picture or two. While it may not be for her, she definitely "gets it" and sees naturism as a very positive influence on our lives. Being out of the closet with her was one of the best decisions of my life.
New Years Run and Nude Polar Bear Swim
I figured a good way to ring in the new year was with a first run with a polar bear swim in the buff. I would have attended a group event, but I had to work. So as soon as I got done, I went and rang in the new year on my own. I thought it would be pretty cold, and it was, but it was exhilerating to go for a dip in the buff. Cheers!
Nude in the Great Outdoors
To all all newbie nudists, What was your first time nude actually like? That is the first time you were nude socially? How long did it take you to be actually comfortable? Now what do you do? Do you go nude at home as well? Do you answer the door nude? Or do you cover up? What happens when you get so comfortable that you forget that you are nude?
New at Nudism
My experience began a few years ago when joking I said to my husband we should go camping at a nudist campground. Well he was so excited about going that we looked for one online and found one not to far from our home. We booked a weekend and on our way. I was nervous at first but he couldn't wait to take his clothes off. When we arrived he was naked as soon as we parked the camper. It took me a bit, it was raining and there were a few people there. We went to the clubhouse with a couple who were camping next to us and one of them suggested to go into the hot tub. What better way to spend a raining day.
Well we all know what you need to do to go into a hot tub so off came my clothes and that is how we spent the whole weekend. We liked it so much we went back and on that second trip was when I told my mother and our kids. They both seemed okay with it. In fact my mother told me that my father always wanted to go but never did. He was a indoor nudist. On hot days he and my mother would go skinny-dipping across from our house. We haven't told close friends yet but I know it will just be a matter of time before we do.
