Your Genuine Self
Much has been said of the relaxation, freedom, and improved self image shared by those who discover and enthusiastically embrace nudism. There is, in my opinion, a foundation that supports all of these. Yet, in my thirty-plus years as a nudist, it has seldom been discussed.
Nudists exist as a paradox: we join with others that practice nudism for a sense of community, a place to belong. Yet that very community celebrates our differences from the world at large.
You might think that this is about nudism, but it’s not. It’s about you being your most genuine self, living with joy and among friends. The support of and immersion in a community that values and accepts each of us is the point; activities are simply a means to that end.
Your AANR Board, AANR office staff, and many other volunteers work tirelessly to maintain and expand a world that provides places for you to be your naked and authentic self in every activity. Not just recreation, which is included in the AANR name, but in daily living, learning, music, fitness, travel, and more.
You have a role in this as well: live life, in part or whole, in the alltogether. Embrace and enjoy your nude activities. Visit a new (to you) nudist destination and make even more friends. In short, have fun! As Helen Keller said, “Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all.” Make your life an adventure while wearing nothing at all!
