Friends, Family and Nudism

Missdirection

My wife's mother invited us up to enjoy her weekend lakefront rental. Knowing our preference of outdoor attire, she cautioned us that the porch would be visible from the lake. She did ask that when out on the porch that my wife wear one of her signature hats and sunglasses. (My mother in law has a grand collection of hats.) She figured that if a passer-by were to see anything, that, in her words, "I don't mind everyone thinking that I'm free spirted dame, and I want them to be impressed with how I look 30 years younger in my birthday suit."

Wife now a nudist

I have been a nudist since I was about 16 years old when I discovered a local beach near me in CA that allowed nudism. 7 years later I met my wife who at first could not embrace the lifestyle. She had no problem being nude at home, but the beach was another issue. She would come to the beach with me, but remained in her bikini.

25 years later from that, my wife is now a comfortable nudist. We bought a house with a secluded yard that is 100% private. We are nude outside most times as the temp in southern California is always nice.

We have been to some resorts and beaches and my wife is nude most of the time. We have two kids who are being raised nude as well.

I am happy I did not force this on my wife and she eventually got into the lifestyle. I love the fact she did not stop me and enjoyed it with me as she could. This of course meant at first going to clubs or beaches where nudism was optional.

Thanks dad

When my father, at 78, announced that he was a nudist, the only surprise was that I was momentarily surprised. It was never a secret that he slept nude, and enjoyed a good skinny dip whenever he could. We never put a title on it. His own father was a man often described as always having a great tan, and never having a tan line. Grand dad's funeral arrangements even stipulated that he was to be buried in the same clothes that he entered the world in. Now that's a nudist! My siblings and I never took part in any kind of family nudity, but always had an accepting attitude towards nudism. Nude beaches were checked off of all our bucket lists, even though it had been years since I had been to one. I often thought how nice it would be to have some nude time in the outdoors again, reminiscing with my wife about our nude beach honeymoon, but as time passes opportunities seem to fade.
So, when I told my wife that dad had announced his nudist status, I was thrilled to hear that her concerns were not about his state of dress, but were concens over his driving to his new favorite nudist resort. She immediately, and matter of factly suggested that I should drive him there. We began searching for more local destinations. For him, of course, we rationalized. We would need to check them out before though, naturally.
With his simple admission of his enjoyment of nudism, he started a healthy conversation amongst the rest of his family. Some of us are supportive and are rekindled in our own enjoyment of being in the all together, some feign shock, but all are interested in one way or another. His wife is one of the least engaged individuals in enjoying nudism unfortunately, but at least the conversation has been started, and she can hear from supportive voices.
So, thank you dad, for starting a conversation that has had such a positive ripple effect, and if there is a lesson to be learned, it could be to not wait so long in being open about nudism.
Once you are comfortable in your own skin for your own enjoyment you can become comfortable in promoting the acceptance of nudism for the enjoyment of others.

Friendly Nudists

I started to experience nudism by sleeping naked. This was when I was in my early 20s. Continuing on I began cleaning my apartment and then house in the nude. This made me more and more comfortable. My family was and is not very keen about my nudism.

I stepped out into the backyard nude one afternoon and realized how great it feels. As I continued with this thoughts of swimming nude and hiking nude started. I went into Lake Michigan and took off my swimsuit and loved the feeling. With that in mind hiking the dunes in the nude became my next experience.

The only drawback was possibly offending some clothed hikers. I have no problem being nude in front of people whether or not they're nude.
I though of going somewhere I could enjoy being nude without thinking about offending anyone.

That is when I went to a nudist club. I had no problem, after checking in, to take off my shirt and shorts. The feeling, as always, is great. I've met some really nice people at the various clubs and enjoy talking with them, again, whether or not they are nude.

I would love to live somewhere that clothes were not allowed.

The Naked Sheep of the Family

Since I was 19 I have been comfortable being naked in front of other people. It just never bothered me. When I was 21 and 8 months pregnant I went to my first nude beach. When I was 24 I went to a Bike Rally with my tattooist and went topless.

That was the first time I told my parents, because there were pictures taken and I knew they would be on the Rally's website. Not that I thought my parents would be on that website, but I didn't want to risk them hearing from a friend or something. My mother simply said, "I don't know where you get it from."

During a summer rainstorm and a rowdy BBQ outing, I went streaking through a local park. My mom said, "That girl has no shame," and laughed. My older sister, who blushes at the discussion of nudity, just calls me "Freaky Deakie" and covers her eyes.

My 22 yr. old son thinks I'm the coolest, but never wants to see it for fear of "burning his retinas out."

Since I've gotten older, and lost the figure I once had, I haven't been nude outside my home in quite awhile, but that's all about to change. My husband and I are planning a naked weekend at a local resort - my first "formal" socially nude experience...I'll let you know how it goes.

My family accepts me and loves me, but it is clear that they don't understand my "total lack of modesty." I am fortunate to have a husband who is willing to take the leap into social nudity with me! And I am thankful for my family, even though they don't really get me sometimes.

As for friends, I don't broadcast my views on nakedness, but if it comes up; I don't shy away either. I have never had any problems with my friends, though I also don't try to turn them into converts, either.

I guess the only people I actively keep it from at this point, are professional connections as it could, fair or not, lead to impractical complications in my life. Other than that, I am openly a Naturist/Nudist!
