Where Advocacy Meets Fellowship
This month, we are traveling to Laguna del Sol for the AANR-West convention and to the Willamettans for the AANR Convention. I am glad to get the chance to meet members in two regions with this trip and update the membership on what your Government Affairs Team (GAT) has done this year to protect your nudist rights.
We review regulations and proposed laws every week of the year. By June, we were approaching 2000 bills for review. We have taken efforts from letter writing and meeting with legislators and administrators, to providing input on bills, to hiring lobbyists to fight when deemed necessary. We’re now almost two-thirds of the way through 2026, and the fight continues. We needed assistance with issues in Arizona and Hawaii. We have engaged lobbyists in those two states and received the support of the AANR-West President, Board, and GAT Chair, in addition to the usual effort made by the Florida Region. GAT’s regional chairs step up each time they are asked and fight to protect your nude time. The AANR office has sent out targeted updates to members in areas where direct contact from constituents would make an impact on a bill’s future.
The Conventions are a time when we can have one-on-one talks with the movers and shakers of AANR’s regional management, as well as loyal members who keep our organization strong in fighting for your protection. If we can do that and have some fun along the way, that’s a pretty good way to spend our leisure time.
Last year, I couldn’t make it to Oaklake Trails – another favorite resort- for the AANR convention, so it’s special to be able to get to Willamettans. I look forward to seeing our friends in the Pacific Northwest, as well as those who travel in from the other regions. It is also the start of a new administrative year, and there will be changes in the Regional GAT teams as well as in the Regional and AANR Boards. So, as we meet to reaffirm our commitment to protecting nudists, know that this effort of all these volunteers is what makes your membership so important. Thank you.
