T.A.N. (Thinking About Nudism) is proudly working with the American Association for Nude Recreation (AANR) to promote and support Home Nudist Day. Together, we’re working to create space for home nudists to feel seen, celebrated, and encouraged, wherever they are on their journey.
Not every nudist walks confidently into a resort or strolls freely down a nude beach their first time out. In fact, many begin the journey quietly, alone, curious, and at home. That was me 40 plus years ago, and it turns out, it’s the story of so many others. My own experience inspired me to create T.A.N. (Thinking About Nudism), a safe and welcoming meeting space for anyone curious about the culture.
Home Nudist Day actually started during a T.A.N. meeting. We were talking about all the different days that nudists celebrate, like World Naked Gardening Day and International Skinny Dip Day, and someone asked, “Why isn’t there a day for home nudists?” It was a simple, honest question, and it sparked something in the room. I thought, why not? We all agreed it made sense to have a day to honor the private, personal side of nudism, the way many of us got started. We chose August 15th, not because of any historical event or national recognition, but simply because it felt right. A good day to celebrate a quiet, powerful culture that deserves its own spotlight.
Let’s Answer the Big Question, Why Home Nudist Day?
Nudists who frequent resorts and beaches already have many days to celebrate like I said earlier, International Skinny Dip Day, World Naked Gardening Day, and the World Naked Bike Ride (WNBR), just to name a few. These events are incredible expressions of public joy, freedom, and body positivity, but we realized something was missing: a day for the quiet nudists, the ones who don’t yet feel ready to be public, but who are still part of this culture in a very real way.
Home Nudist Day was born out of the belief that every step in the nudist journey matters. You don’t need to be seen by others to be valid. You don’t need to be in a crowd to celebrate. Nudism is deeply personal, and for many, that personal journey begins at home.
The Three Most Common Questions We Hear at T.A.N.
“Am I really a nudist if I’ve never gone to a beach or resort?”
Absolutely. Nudism is about how you live and how you see yourself, not about where you do it. If you feel peace, joy, or authenticity in being nude at home, you’re already part of the community.
“How do I know if I’m ready to try a nudist beach or event?”
There’s no timeline. Read, talk to others, come to a T.A.N. meeting, and trust your comfort level. Many take small steps, like visiting a secluded clothing-optional beach during off-hours or booking a day pass at a quiet resort. The important thing is that it’s your decision.
“Will I be judged for how I look?”
Never. The nudist community is one of the most accepting spaces you’ll find. All bodies are normal here. What you look like is the least interesting thing about you, nothing personal, and that’s a beautiful thing
What is Home Nudist Day?
Home Nudist Day, observed August 15th, is a day to recognize and celebrate home nudists, people who choose to live clothes-free in the privacy of their own space. Whether it’s just lounging in the living room, gardening in the backyard, or working from home in the nude, this culture fosters body acceptance, mental peace, and emotional freedom.
The day is meant to be low-pressure, inclusive, and personal. There are no parades, no public gatherings, no need to post anything about it unless you choose to do so or prove anything to anyone. It’s simply about honoring the fact that you’ve chosen to live more authentically and comfortably in your own skin.
The Benefits and Features of Home Nudist Day
Body Positivity: Being nude at home can help people reconnect with their bodies in a natural, judgment-free way. It teaches self-acceptance without the pressure of external opinions.
Mental Health and Stress Relief: Without the restriction of clothing or the anxiety of public perception, home nudists often experience reduced stress, better sleep, and a calming sense of personal freedom.
Inclusivity: People with physical insecurities, trauma, social anxiety, or disabilities often find home nudism to be a healing starting point. Home Nudist Day welcomes everyone, regardless of comfort level.
Safe Exploration: It gives people permission to explore nudism in a way that feels safe, manageable, and affirming without needing to rush into social nudist spaces before they’re ready.
A Gateway to Growth: For some, Home Nudist Day is a reminder that it’s okay to be right where they are. For others, it might be the encouragement they need to take that next step to a nudist beach, resort, or community event when the time feels right.
Why Now?
In a world that increasingly encourages curated images and filtered lives, people are longing for something more real. More honest. More free. Body positivity is gaining ground, but many still struggle silently with shame, fear, and insecurity, especially when it comes to nudity.
Now is the time to show people that freedom doesn’t start at the beach, resort, or anywhere public, it starts at home. Home Nudist Day isn’t about doing more, it’s about being more: more comfortable, more confident, more connected to your true self. It’s a starting point. A moment of recognition. A quiet revolution of self-acceptance that has the power to ripple outward.
Whether you’re thinking about nudism, just starting out, or have lived it quietly for years, Home Nudist Day is for you. You don’t have to go anywhere, prove anything, or change who you are. Just be. Just breathe. Just celebrate the skin you’re in, because that alone is worth honoring.
Happy Home Nudist Day.

Kenneth Callahan im enjoying home nudist day being naked helps relieve stress and helps you relax I spend more time in the nude
my Name is Kenneth Callahan have been to sandy hook nude beach really enjoyed it being naked it very relaxing i just joined AANR
Love being nude, but hard to find likeminded people
I hear you loud and clear
https://naturisthub.com/members/home
im a 58 year old divorced man i just got into the life style i love being nude its relaxing
Im always dressed like that when I’m home
I’ve been a nudist since I visited Willamitans in 1962 or 63 when attending The University of Origan in Eugene. I was an ASA member and am currently an AANR member. I don’t have available transportation, so I’m restricted to living nude in my appartment and on my balcony.
I’ve lived nude home, but went to nudist clubs and resorts when I could. So “home nudity” is a real thing even if it isn’t social due to unfortunate circumstances.
I am a widower (2 1/2 years and an active 73 year old man). I have been a home nudist for some time, and have ventured out once to a nudist resort. I would like to know where I could meet single women near or in my Community (Ocala, FL) who also enjoy nudism. My home is fine for home nudity, so it would be nice to have a female companion to share time with at my home, or to venture out to places we can enjoy our nudity together, and with other like minded people.

Hi Manny,
Thank you for sharing your story. It’s great to hear that you’ve embraced nudism both at home and trying it out at a resort. Ocala is not far from several nudist-friendly areas and communities, so you may have more opportunities than you realize.
I recommend connecting with local nudist clubs or organizations in Florida, as many have meetups, social events, and online groups where like-minded singles participate. Groups like AANR (American Association for Nude Recreation) and local resort communities often have member directories or social functions that could help you connect with others who share your interests.
Another option is to join online nudist-friendly forums or social platforms specifically geared toward naturists, many have sections for singles and for meeting others locally. Taking part in events like Home Nudist Day is also a great way to meet people in a casual, welcoming environment.
I wish you the best, and as always, it’s a great day to get your clothes off and your nude on! -Rick-
Naturist Hub is a great place to connect with others, but I wouldn’t introduce yourself as looking for single women. Others have done that, and it usually starts things off on the wrong foot, when you’re a new member.
Like I recommend for people in your situation when they’re visiting resorts, non-landed clubs, or other places to meet people in-person, it’s best to let people get to know you as someone they could feel comfortable introducing to someone else who wants to meet other single nudists, too. Same idea applies to nudist websites.
My wife and I experienced a couple beaches and Cypress Cove three times. As we embraced nudity, we built our own paradise on our property that allows us to enjoy nudity at home. We installed a 27′ pool and a massive deck around it. It is concealed from outside observation.
We would like to share our space with other alike-minded people. However, we are not familiar with how to engage with others in the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky area who would want to partake. We believe in a family-oriented type community but due to career fields, we would only be comfortable with those over 18.
That sounds absolutely amazing, it’s inspiring to hear how you’ve created your own little slice of paradise at home. A private space like yours is a dream for many nudists, and it’s wonderful that you’d like to share it with like-minded people.
Connecting with others in the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky area can be done in a few ways:
Join local or regional nudist/naturist groups, organizations like AANR (American Association for Nude Recreation) or TNS (The Naturist Society) often have member directories and event listings.
Look for social media groups focused on nudism in your region. Many private Facebook or MeWe groups exist where people can connect before meeting in person.
Attend nearby resorts or clubs and network with other visitors, you’ll often find people interested in more casual home gatherings.
It’s great that you’re focused on a family-oriented, respectful atmosphere while keeping things 18+ for your own comfort. With the right networking, you’ll likely find others who share your values and would appreciate your hospitality.
I hope this helps, and as always, it’s a great day to get your clothes off and your nude on! -Rick-

Mr. Williams
Thank you for your post.
I would like to think that there are many homeowners such as yourself who have already created a comfortable environment in their yard or would like to, in order to enjoy being nude.
While our current situation does not lend itself to that, I envision such a paradise with the next property we purchase for our retirement.
My wife and I are in our 60’s living in Central Kentucky. We have visited nude places when we lived in Texas many years ago, and are often nude at home.
Having the opportunity to connect with other like minded folks, especially those who have already created a private oasis such as yourselves would be appreciated.
If you’re open to inviting others to enjoy your pool, you should look around for any non-landed nudist groups in your area. One of the difficulties for such groups is finding places where their members can gather.

Hello:
I’ve been an “at home” nudist for many years. I put clothes on to go out and take them off when I come in. I have a sets of dark blue short leg scrubs I put on for brief times outside, like putting rubbish out or getting a forgotten item in the car, or when I need to answer the door. I wear them at night in bed to keep my bed clothes clean as the scrubs are easier to wash than bed clothes. Laundry chores are a lot easier for an at home nudist.
I always kept telling myself how nice it would be if I could just go outside nude. That’s which led me to Solair in CT, which I’ve annually visited for a few nights every year for quite a while. All the people there are very rational people, most from professional backgrounds. All kinds of bodies, ranging saggy older women with surgical scars to young and new. Nobody cares about body condition and nothing is sexual. Animals don’t wear clothes and aren’t always sexually aroused. You don’t realize how ridiculous it is for anyone to need to wear a bathing suit on any public beach until you do as I have.
Best Thoughts, Steven T.
Steven,
Thank you for sharing your experience, it’s a perfect example of how nudism, whether at home or at a resort like Solair, is rooted in comfort, body acceptance, and a healthy perspective on the human form. I love that you’ve found practical ways to make at-home nudism work for you, like the scrubs for those quick trips outside or answering the door, that’s the kind of real-life adaptation a lot of people can relate to.
Your description of Solair really highlights what many non-nudists don’t realize: nudist spaces are filled with everyday people from all walks of life, and the focus isn’t on bodies, but on community and shared respect. The way you point out that animals live unclothed without constant sexualization really hits the truth, the stigma is human-made, not natural.
I couldn’t agree more about the bathing suit observation. Once you’ve experienced the freedom of swimming or relaxing without that barrier, it’s hard to go back. Thank you again for helping show others that nudism is about normalcy, acceptance, and living without unnecessary shame.
As always, it’s a great day to get your clothes off and your nude on!

How do you find others in my area that would like to share in the same idea of “Home Nudist Day?”
Is there some type of web page or a email list that people sign up for for hosting there event, or listed by state or area?
Hi Phil,
Great question! Right now, “Home Nudist Day” is more of a self-hosted celebration rather than a centrally organized event, so there’s no official sign-up list or master directory. The beauty of it is that it can be as simple as enjoying the day in your own space, alone, with a partner, or with like-minded friends you invite.
That said, if you want to connect with others in your area, you might try joining nudist-focused social media groups (Facebook has several), the AANR community site, or online platforms like Bluesky, where home nudists and social nudists share events and meet-ups. You can also check with local resorts or clubs, even if you’re not a member, they may know of others nearby who celebrate the day at home.
I hope this helps, and as always, it’s a great day to get your clothes off and your nude on! -Rick-
I’ve found Facebook becoming a much less nudist-friendly platform, in the past few years. And, recently, I’m hearing from people saying their accounts may be frozen due to their involvement in nudist-related groups on there. Some are thinking this may be an increasing reliance by Facebook on bots, or AI, which incorrectly views nudity, in any form, as sexual, and/or inappropriate.
Twitter/X I’ve given up on, due to it’s rather toxic treatment of nudism, and nudity in general.
I do find BlueSky to be more of a nudist-friendly platform, as well as certain Discord groups, and, of course, NaturistHub is probably the safest social media for nudists, these days. But it’s important to use caution in all social media claiming to be focused on nudism, as it also can be a magnet for fakes, scammers, etc.
How would I learn more about this. I’m kind of interested. Background: Senior man that lost his wife in 2019. I’ve been at Sandy Hook beach in NJ and currently go to Haulover Beach in Florida (both Clothing Optional)
Hi Albert,
I’m so sorry for your loss, and I’m glad to hear you’re finding places like Sandy Hook and Haulover to enjoy. Both are great examples of how clothing-optional beaches can offer freedom, connection, and a positive atmosphere.
If you’re interested in learning more, “Home Nudist Day” (August 15th) is a great place to start. It’s simply about celebrating nudism in your own home or private space, no travel required, though many people also use it as a chance to connect with others who share the same values. It’s low-pressure, judgment-free, and can be as social or as private as you’d like.
I can point you toward resources like the American Association for Nude Recreation (AANR), local nudist resorts, and online nudist communities where people share tips, events, and experiences. From there, you can choose whether you’d like to keep it at home, join small gatherings, or explore more public clothing-optional spaces like you’ve already enjoyed.
I hope this helps, and as always, it’s a great day to get your clothes off and your nude on! -Rick-
Thank you for this. Because of my family caregiver commitment, I am not able to go to nearby resorts. I would love to go, but that is just not feasible. I am a devoted home nudist and I thank you all for the support. Perhaps we’ll get to meet at a resort someday.
Hi Jeffrey,
Thank you for sharing that. I completely understand, caregiving is such an important and selfless role, and it’s wonderful that you’re still able to enjoy nudism at home. That’s exactly why things like Home Nudist Day exist, to celebrate the culture wherever you are, even if you can’t get away to a resort.
Your support and participation from home still mean a lot to the community, and I’m glad you feel the encouragement from others here. Keep enjoying the comfort, freedom, and joy of being your natural self.
I hope this helps, and as always, it’s a great day to get your clothes off and your nude on! -Rick-
Thank you, Rick.
