Have you ever been skinny dipping? That is, being immersed in water with the freedom of floating on the surface without the hindrance of a swimsuit.
If not, you need to try it this summer. Skinny dipping has a wonderfully calming effect on the mind and body, creating a welcomed sense of liberation and tranquility.
The feeling of weightlessness, the coolness of the water against your skin, and the sensation of swimming in harmony with nature is incredibly invigorating.
For many, skinny dipping is a form of self-expression, and aids in promoting body positivity. It allows one to break free from society’s norms and embrace their natural state.
Besides absorbing that all important vitamin D from the sun all over one’s body, it’s about freedom and reveling in your body while immersed in nature.
f you’re uneasy about being naked in public, know that shyness melts quickly away with the warmth of the day. And you’ll soon be celebrating your body, with all its glorious imperfections, without a care in the world.
Nude beaches are something akin to sacred spaces, where everyone is living life in their bodies, free from societal imposed judgments.
A couple of tips for those first dipping their toes in the skinny dip experience: bring something to sit on (towel, mat or beach chair), sunblock, sun protective gear (sunglasses, hat), and appropriate clothing to wear as you come and go; don’t stare at other sunbathers; do not take photos; be considerate of those around you respecting each other’s privacy; space yourself maintaining a comfortable social distance from others; and never publicly engage in sexual activity.
Skinny dipping spots include: clothing-optional beaches, secluded rivers and lakes, hidden swimming holes, hot springs, private pools and spas, wilderness areas, and of course nudist resorts and campgrounds.

There’s a certain allure to shedding your inhibitions and embracing the freedom of swimming in the nude.
International Skinny Dip Day celebrates this liberating experience, giving people the chance to plunge into the water au naturel and experience the ultimate connection with nature.
International Skinny Dip Day (the second Saturday of July) is held on July 12th this year. Take the plunge!
Naturally,
Being the shyest guy in gym class all those years ago, joining the Navy brought a rude awakening as I showered with 70+ guys every day. It was like flipping a switch with regards to my personal nudity, becoming a “nudie” seeming only natural after that point. The first time you remove all your clothes, exposed to Nature all around you, the feeling is nothing short of jubilant. Whoever conceived the notion about wearing clothing for swimming must have been crazy.
A few days ago I went skinny dipping with a friend for the first time in a while. It was wonderful. It’s infinity better than swimming with any kind of swimsuit.
If I can, I’ll try to celebrate next July.
Enjoy it in Florida Beach this spring and it was great. Hope to get back there soon.
