Wander Bare: Finding Connection in Nudist Travel

Travel is about freedom; nudism is about freedom, the perfect match for summer. It’s time to travel! So, this is my gazing out the window and wishing and wondering column. This year, I am not on the road visiting new places; I’m home, spending more time in my garden and visiting my local resorts. A couple of trips into the Sierras to river swim spots and friends’ homes is how I plan to spend my Summer and Fall.
We went to Glen Eden in Southern California for the AANR-West Convention. I love Oaklake Trails, but we just couldn’t make the trip this year for the AANR Convention. I‘m sure we will be back there enjoying the friendships we built over the years with people there and the AANR members from all over who we see at conventions.
I miss in-person interaction with the folks we have met on the road. Zoom meetings are not conducive to nude recreation! A meeting followed by time in the sun with like-minded people makes a convention a social gathering, complete with talks and tales, that is lost online. Meeting with and reconnecting with friends and new acquaintances is important to the growth of our organization. As GAT Chair, I like to be able to share what we are doing to protect fellow nudists as they venture out to enjoy nature.
Share your nudism with others and offer that you are a nudist to those you know. Be proud of your ability to enjoy the outdoors free of clothes just to be covered. You need shoes and paddles to play some games. Oars and boats for other activities. You don’t need a suit to swim, snorkel, or kayak. You don’t need clothes to have a dinner party at your campsite. Just do it without caring about how you will look.
One of the joys of meeting in groups is the shared camaraderie we feel with fellow campers, free of any need to look right. Nudists come in all shapes, sizes, and preferences. We share the things we have in common and respect the differences. We find common interest in sharing our nudism, be it sports, hiking, swimming, or just sitting around talking. I enjoy that social interaction with my fellow nudists.
Make the most of your Summer and Fall and explore.
